"...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31
Step by Step Christian School promotes physical development of students of all ages, and encourages students to be healthy and active in several ways. Elementary age students have physical education every day. All students take developmental gymnastics, and, during the summer months, swimming lessons. These programs help all students to be well rounded and encourage healthy habits and lifestyles, with focus on individual progress rather than competition. These programs have additional importance, in that they provide an opportunity to build pride and self-confidence in those children who may have particular gifts that lie outside what they would be able to demonstrate in a regular classroom setting.
A program called the peaceful playground is used for the development of gross motor skills. Four separate playground areas are designed with age appropriate equipment, which makes being active fun in a setting with less structure, and encourages development of physical skills at the appropriate stage. Scoot riding toys are provided for toddlers, tricycles for 3 and 4 year olds, while overhand rings and playing fields are available to the school age children.
Diet is another aspect important to good physical development. Our school lunch program exceeds the recommendations for childhood nutrition. We emphasize a well-balanced diet with appropriate portion sizes. Food is prepared on site, and is made in a way that should appeal to children, taste delicious, and provide good nutritional value.
